Fix up, Look sharp fellas!

Whether you want to be suited and booted or casually turnt this New Year’s eve, I have some affordable style tips for you.

New Year’s eve is a great fashionable event however it is commonly a wasteful season in regard to clothes.

Personally, I find it quite diabolical that we have this throwaway mentality so I want to show you how your NYE attire can work throughout the year and also to have a more cost-effective new year.

Look 1: Spot colour

Inspired by my best friend Ryan, Spot colour is a simple way of implementing more colour into your New Year wardrobe. Now, you don’t need to be as formal as him to make this look work but you do have to have conviction.

Forever 21 Belted faux leather sleeveless moto jacket – £27
Topman – Red skinny fit trousers – £50
Topman – Grey and Navy check skinny trousers – £35
Topman – Black broken check skinny fit trousers – £35

Spot colour looks can be simple and extremely versatile. The base colour for this look is black – A colour that everyone is comfortable with. Grab a black T-shirt of any cut (Longline, Scoop Neck, Crew neck etc.) and any plain black shoes or trainers. Add the belted faux leather sleeveless moto jacket on top and the look is complete… Well, almost. A commonly overlooked part of a guys outfit is the trousers. We usually just stick with plain black or navy but I want to show you how to mix it up a bit without “losing your masculinity.”

I hope you got that sarcasm there!

By choosing any pair of the trousers above can create a completely unique look any of which could work for the New Year celebrations. The red trouser will make it very fun a great choice for hanging with your mates. The grey and navy trouser is quite formal and really does stand out will work great with a shirt and tie for a wedding. The black broken check trouser is subtle for those who are anxious about huge amounts of colour but still want a memorable outfit for all of the right reasons.

Look 2: Be bold, Be bright, Be Brilliant!

This is for all of the guys who are afraid of the fashionable phenomenon called… Colour.

Don’t fear it, Embrace it.

Get a statement jacket!

Your outfit underneath could be your uniform All black/white outfit (Long-line Tee, distressed jeans) but the simple addition of any of the following jackets could transform a cool street style outfit into an urban masterpiece:

New Year Style for the Ladies

Ladies first, as the saying goes.

New Year’s eve is a great fashionable event however it is commonly a wasteful season in regard to clothes.

Personally, I find it quite diabolical that we have this throwaway mentality so I want to show you how your NYE attire can work throughout the year and to have a more cost-effective new year.

Fashion – to me – is about being more than average. Average dresses and outfits are exactly that… Average. I hope that this blog post will give you some fashion tips on how to explore fashion in a more cost-effective and creative way.

Look 1 – All that Glitters!

New Year’s Eve is a time where you see a lot of sequined or sparkly pieces and here are some of the best ones to wear:

Boohoo – One Shoulder Sequin Playsuit Was £28 Now £20
Boohoo – Silver Metallic Kimono Style Playsuit Was £20 Now £12. The Metallic sheen will perfectly reflect the fireworks of the night. Worn with a simple dark coat or a statement faux fur gilet, this is a very versatile piece. Because of the lines created by the playsuit, It can be worn with a jumper to create ‘shorts.’ By adding a White cropped jumper (£19 from Forever 21 – Contemporary Jumper Crop top) and over the knee grey suede boots (£44.99 from New Look – Grey Suedette flared heel over the knee boots) you can create a completely different, more interesting springtime look.
Topshop – Moto Camo Sequin Velvet Mom Jeans Was £85 Now £50. These will work with any top. Just treat these like ordinary black jeans and you cannot go wrong!
River Island – Nude metallic pleated Bardot top Was £28 Now £15. The Bardot style has come back this year and it is here to stay for a long while. This can be worn with a Choker (Another trend that is back) that is either really simple or really detailed – avoid the middle ground – to create a cool and classy look. This can be dressed up with a long black duster waistcoat and cigarette trousers or dressed down with dark ripped jeans and some Chelsea boots.

Look 2: Work the Angles, Work the Layers…

Although this probably sounds like a section on how to get the perfect angle for your selfie or how to angle your highlight – I leave the makeup tutorials to the ones in the know, Roxxsaurus, Zoella etc. – This is a section about playing with symmetry and with layering.

Boohoo – One Shoulder Slinky Bodysuit £10. Bodysuits can be a great way to add some more interesting angles to the look. This slinky bodysuit would look simply fabulous with some high waisted black shorts or a black faux leather skater skirt. I think a brilliant way to wear this is with a black pair of high waisted jeans. Simple but still with flair.
Topshop – Leopard velvet skater dress Was £38 Now £20. This dress could be worn on its own for NYE with some fishnet tights and a pair of neutral stilettos. However, to take this look from normal to interstellar, add a plain white long sleeved shirt underneath the dress. To add a little bit more glamour, put some rhinestone collar tips (Topshop, £6.25) on the shirt. With the addition of black tights and Pandora Shoe in Black (Shoe Embassy – Pandora, £69), the look is complete! With different jackets and accessories, this i a dress that would last a lot longer than just new year’s eve.
Topshop – Moto Velvet Catsuit Was £49 Now £28. Catsuits are useful for layering. Simply add a long-sleeved T-shirt underneath the catsuit and then you’ll have an outfit that will automatically become your go-to outfit. When you’re going out with your girls, I’d add a black mesh under top. When you’re going out for a family meal, I’d add a plain black long sleeve T-shirt underneath. And or New Year’s Eve, you can just wear it how it comes out of the packaging.
Topshop – Eyelet one shoulder dress Was £125 Now £60. This dress is one of the more expensive ones in this post, however, the price will be an afterthought after you think about all of the ways it could be worn. You could wear this dress with bombers, dusters or blazers, with heels, trainers or wedges. It is a very versatile piece!

Look 3: Be bold, Be bright, Be beautiful!

Forever 21 – Metallic Moto Jacket in Pink £30. Sometimes you just need to start with the jacket. Experiment with different tops and different bottoms to find your perfect match with this jacket which looks rose gold. Any jewellery should be in the rose gold or copper hue.
Pretty Little Thing – Green Sequin Bodycon Dress Was £45 Now £25. Gotta love a good statement dress! To turn this into a statement skirt instead, add a blue jumper and white duster coat to complete the look.
Pretty Little Thing – Gold Leopard Print sequin slouch trousers Was £30 Now £15. This is definitely for those who aren’t afraid to be a little different. For the club add a bralette or crop top, for lounging with friends, add a sweatshirt, and for a lovely day out, add a plain T-shirt and a denim jacket.

Men’s Fashion Weeks are on their way!

From the 6th-9th January 2017, London Fashion Week Men’s will begin!

This will feature shows from Topman Design, Xander Zhou and Vivienne Westwood and presentations from Barbour International, Lou Dalton and many more.

The standard that London Fashion Week Men’s brings gets stepped up every single season and this season is no exception.

Love Shoes? Love Shoe Embassy!

I was invited to the Shoe Embassy Oxford Launch that took place on 9th December and it is safe to say that it was an amazing experience.

The new store – 22 High Street, Oxford – is the first Shoe Embassy store outside of London and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Being welcomed by lovely employees who were all passionate about shoes and style was extremely refreshing after going into so many other high-street stores and be greeted by people with no passion and drive for the job they are in.

There was a beautiful array of Men’s and Women’s that were absolutely mesmerising, each shoe unique and intriguing. I do not usually say this about shoe stores but Shoe Embassy surpassed all expectations as they created an atmosphere perfect for the customer.

The creativity and workmanship of Shoe Embassy is absolutely stellar and I can honestly say that there was not a shoe in the shop that I did not fall in love with. From Boots to Heels, from Brogues to Monk Strap, They have it all and you will not be disappointed when you walk in.

Lord Mayor of Oxford, Mohammed Altaf-Khan, opened the event welcoming Shoe Embassy to Oxford saying “Oxford is a very international city and I am sure there will be a lot of visitors and tourists that will buy your product, (Shoe Embassy) It is a very good fit for here in Oxford.”  Tomas Savicius, The Company Director of Shoe Embassy, also spoke about his journey to get to Shoe Embassy, ” Since I started six years ago, from the small bag of shoes in the market, it’s the passion and love I have for the shoes that’s kept me going. That’s what inspires me!”

Tomas Savicius is also very happy to be in Oxford and he hopes the shop ‘reflects the culture of Oxford.’

At the end of the night and after an intense browse over every shelf of shoes, I was privileged to receive two pairs fo shoes, one for me and one for my Dad, DJG, to be worn during our trip to Los Angeles for the Golden Globes. These are the two pairs of shoes I picked:

A major throwback – My First Book!
