As it is only 10 days until London Fashion Week Mens, I thought I would recap what happened last season!
I enjoy the way that menswear is changing and is getting brighter and more innovative. I am all for this change. I hope to see more of that in the next 10 days and throughout the whole of this Menswear season from June – July.
The British Supermodel, Actress, Activist and all-round fashion boss is seen above dressed in Versace donated by Donatella Versace herself for Campbell’s Fashion for Relief fashion show raising money for Save The Children during Cannes Film Festival.
Joining the British Supermodel was Model Bestie Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Heidi Klum, Maria Borges and Jourdan Dunn to say the least, as well as a special guest appearance from Antonia Banderas and Mary J Blige.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, Cannes Film Festival is a fashion beast that is hard to tame but I will do my best to give you the fashion digest.
Rei Kawakubo was honoured at last night’s Met Gala in New York City. Countless celebrities, designers, performers and fashion legends were in attendance and they certainly all made a splash in the avant-garde pool.
Kawakubo and Comme Des Garcons are famous for redefining the classic female silhouette.
Last night, some people got it so right with the theme, others… not so much. But we will not focus on the negatives because I am all about positivity here. however, I will shine a light on outfits that I think could have been improved upon.
Let’s jump straight in! Be warned… This is a lengthy blog post!
Katy Perry
Whether you’re a fan of her music (Or her attempts at comedy) Katy Perry completely nailed the Comme Des Garcons theme wearing Maison Margiela. As Co-host of the event, she definitely had to serve a perfect outfit.
The Fashion Queen herself glistened on the red carpet! The iridescent glow of her dress created her own definition of Avant-Garde. Speaking to Andre Leon Talley, She Says, “Obviously, Avant-Garde is different things to different people, so that’s what I hope we’re going to see tonight.” Wise words that certainly came true.
Rei would be proud of the Thom Browne number worn by Solange. This not only completely embodied the theme, it looked insanely wearable minus the train on the puffer coat.
Dreadlocks accessories and grill aside, Jaden’s Look is a striking one. He will definitely be remembered for bringing his Locks to the party instead of his sister, (Was he throwing shade?) this gothic Louis Vuitton look coincided with the Theme brilliantly.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how Elegant Candice looks?
And Also She is in TOPSHOP! We’ll come back to Topshop, Topman and H&M near the end.
I am not sure if this necessarily fits the theme, however, she looks stunning!
The Kardashian-Jenner Sisters
Let’s Start with Kim! As you know, I am not really a KUWTK fan but I never want to judge a book by itself cover. I really liked this simple elegant dress on Kim especially with the asymmetric lob haircut.
Kendall, in La Perla Lingerie, did not impress me tbh. The barely-there lingerie look isn’t one that sets my world on fire. I feel this a look that has been done a lot. All that said, she still looks stunning and strikingly beautiful but I think another gown would have been more appropriate.
Kylie looked amazing in this nude number by Versace. The nude palette always seems to work for her and makes her look brilliant.
Madonna and Jeremy Scott
Both serving army chic similar to Moschino Mens AW17, They were both ready for anything the night could throw at them.
Christian Williams in Moschino Mens AW17
Gisele and Tom
In sustainable Stella McCartney, Gisele slays in this “Bootylicious” Open back dress with his Man Tom Brady wearing Tom Ford. Both looking amazing and splendidly in love.
Our Girl, Z, didn’t stick to the theme but slayed equally as hard!
This Dolce & Gabbana Dress dominated tabloids and fashion tv shows as a huge talking point. Her fabulous Fro and striking lips makes this look one of my favourite… and also because it’s Zendaya!
Topshop turned up the temperature with these amazing designs. Candice, Joan, Behati and Sistine all look amazing. IMO, Sofia Richie did not look the best. The material kind of looked like foil. But That is just my opinion!
No Flaws with Topman! Presley Gerber, Gabriel Kane and Jordan Barrett all looked fantastic. All of these suits would look great in my wardrobe!
H&M
Yes, I did just write H&M! They dominated the red carpet with Jourdan Dunn, Nicki Minaj, Future, Ashley Graham, Sasha Blane, Joe Jonas and Stella Maxwell.
The Weeknd in Black and Selena in White create the most high fashion yin and yang. So beautiful!
Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita always brings the fire! Remember last year’s Nina Simone/Matrix inspired look? She always seems to get the theme and work with it within her style.
Rihanna and the Comme Des Garcons Girls
Rihanna got a lot of stick for this look because it did not flatter her figure… That’s what Comme Des Garcons is all about, challenging silhouette stereotypes. Anyway, Rant over!
The Comme Des Garcons gown looks amazing on her especially with her complexion!
The other Comme Des Garcons girls also looked phenomenal!
Structured like Comme Des Garcons with the flowing fabulousness of Tommy HilfigerBella’s Off the shoulder catsuit caused a bit of controversy as people were asking if she is pregnant… She is not!Yolanda and Anwar Hadid having a Mother and Son moment on the red carpet!
These are some of my favourite Met Gala looks from this year. Let me know below who your favourite was and if I missed anyone out who you love.
You’re probably wondering what on earth I am on about. Am I genuinely writing a blog post about bank holiday Monday? The answer to that is quite simply – well – No! Monday is such an important day because it is the 2017 Met Gala.
This year’s theme is Comme Des Garcons: Art of the In-between. The Gala will celebrate the work of one of the most influential designers of the last 40 years, Rei Kawakudo.
Kawakudo is the only living (Other than Yves Saint Laurent in 1983) designer to attend a Met Gala tribute to their work.
To Celebrate the Met, let’s take a look back at some of my favourite Met Gala looks ever!
The Beautiful Lupita glowing in this pleated green gown.
China through the looking glass was one of my favourite themes.
Another favourite of mine was last year’s theme, Manus X Machina. The styles were electric… literally!

Karlie Kloss has had a busy week with travelling to St Louis, dropping her first capsule collection with Express and releasing application forms for her coding summer camp, Kode With Klossy!
Let’s Start off with her Collection Collaboration with Express!
Karlie Kloss X Express
Karlie and Express teamed up to create a collection that shows the elegance and versatility of the wardrobe essentials. This collection is inspired by its target audience, Real Girls.
17 mix and match pieces make up the whole collection which can create more than 100 looks, the collection reflects the beautiful optimism of Karlie and girls all around the world that dare to dream more.
All the hard work led up to the debut of the collection at a live runway show at The Pageant in Karlie’s hometown of St. Louis, Missouri on 30th March 2017.
The 15 Models used in the show were just ordinary women, a cancer survivor, a military service member, a fashion blogger, a computer engineer and coder and Karlie’s very own sister, Kimby Kloss.
The girls got to work with celebrity stylist (who has styled none other than Karlie) Karla Welch and creative movement consultant Steven Galloway.
The Pageant holds special meaning for Karlie as this is where her very first runway show happened 13 years ago.
After the show, they had hearty food and a performance by Charli XCX!
After taking the world by storm last year, Kode with Klossy is back to inspire another generation of girls to try coding.
“Before my first coding class, the idea that I could build something with code seemed nearly impossible, but after only a couple of courses, I was working with my classmates to program a small drone. I realized that, just like art and fashion, code is about creativity, and that women who have these skills have the power to shape our future – and often have. Women are essential in forging digital progress and knowing how to code is the key to exploring and creating the newest frontier.” – Karlie Kloss
So if you’re a girl and you’re interested in what coding has to offer or even if you just want to make some new friends, try Kode with Klossy. It may unlock your potential!
As you all know I love Karlie Kloss, I think she is amazing and upon finding out this information, I had to share it with you all!
I know I have been absent for a while going to events and editing videos but I am back with a new post for you all.
Cast your minds back to when I went to my old secondary school, Do you remember the outfit I wore?
Not completely…
Well here’s a breif reminder!
I will be showing the full look and how you can get this look.
My inspiration behind this outfit was the layering trend and was heavily influenced by the 90’s with the dungarees. The Shirt and T-shirt layering comination was so outside of my comfort zone but I really enjoyed wearing this look. It is comfortable yet still so stylish.
My top tips for Shirt and T-shirt layering is to make sure the shirt is tucked in and the t-shirt is untucked. This creates a more cohesive and clean look. As you may know, from being a Victoryforu Reader, I love to mix formality and street style in different combinations.
I hope you enjoy the video above. Thank you to Ryan O’connor for being my Videographer for the day!
